The Saudi International Advanced Materials Technologies Conference 2011 is held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz.

KACST is organizing this unique gathering of leading experts from around the world, at its International Advance Materials Technologies Conference 2011.

Saudi Arabia already has several industries which are making full use of advanced materials technologies. As this field evolves and the materials are developed even further, the Kingdom is committed to transferring technology developments to as many industries as possible. Over the next few years KACST research and development will focus on areas of advanced materials technologies in which the Kingdom has potential competitive advantages and which can be used to improve Saudi Arabia's social and economic demands.

KACST is leading the development and execution of Saudi Arabia's five year strategic and implementation plans for 15 technologies and scientific fields, one of which is advanced materials technologies.

The Advanced Materials Program will work to enhance the position of the Kingdom in these technologies, and to apply the developed technologies to meet the needs of the country. The plan is based on input from the users and stakeholders for advanced materials in the Kingdom, including government agencies, industry, universities, and medical centres. Advanced materials research and development is critical for the Kingdom and KACST has identified several strategic areas as priorities for advanced materials applications.

The speakers will present the current developments and trends in advanced materials technologies and will review the Kingdom's specific needs in this field, as well as discussing Saudi Arabia's collaborations and initiatives in this vital sector.
